Fabulous vs Morning Vibe

We make one of these two, so read this with that in mind. We have tried to be straight about where Fabulous is the better choice, because for a lot of people it is. The short version: Fabulous helps you build a routine you do not have yet, and Morning Vibe runs the routine you already know you should be doing.

Where Fabulous wins

Fabulous is one of the best produced apps in this category. The journeys are written properly, the audio is calm rather than shouty, and the pacing is deliberate: it will not let you add six habits on day one, which is exactly the mistake most people make on their own.

If you are starting from no routine at all, that structure is worth a lot. Being told to drink a glass of water tomorrow and nothing else is easier to follow than a blank planner, and the app is good at making a small win feel like a reason to come back.

It is also better than we are at motivation over weeks. It nudges, it celebrates, and it keeps a thread going between one day and the next. Morning Vibe does none of that.

Pick Fabulous if you want to be coached, you are on iOS or Android, and you are comfortable with a subscription once the trial ends.

Where Morning Vibe wins

Morning Vibe assumes you already know what your morning should contain. You lay the steps out as timed blocks, press play, and each block counts down and hands over with a chime. A live finish time sits at the top, so when the shower runs long you can see that you will now be out at 8:47 and decide what to cut while there is still time to cut it.

Focus mode strips the screen back to the block you are on and the one coming next, which matters more than it sounds when you are half awake. There is nothing to read and nothing to choose.

It runs in the browser, so it works on a laptop, a phone or a kitchen tablet, and installs to the home screen if you want it to. You can open any routine in the library and press play with no account and no card, which is a fair way to test whether timing is the thing you were missing.

Pick Morning Vibe if you keep overrunning, you want the routine on a shared screen (school mornings are a common case), or you want to try something properly before paying for anything.

The honest limits of each

  • Fabulous will not keep a tight morning on schedule, because timing is not what it is for.
  • Fabulous is mobile only, so there is nothing to open on a laptop.
  • Morning Vibe has no streaks, badges or long term charts, so it is a poor habit tracker.
  • Morning Vibe will not nag you into starting. It runs the morning once you press play.
  • Neither app fixes going to bed at 1am, which is the real cause of a lot of bad mornings.

If tracking is what you are actually after, routine timers vs habit trackers explains why neither of these might be the right tool.

The verdict

They are not really competing for the same job. Fabulous is for deciding what your morning should be. Morning Vibe is for getting that morning done in the time you have. If you have to choose one, choose based on which sentence describes your problem, not on which app looks nicer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between Fabulous and Morning Vibe?
Fabulous is a coaching app. It introduces habits gradually through written and audio journeys and nudges you to keep going. Morning Vibe is a routine timer. It takes the steps you already have, gives each one a length, and counts you through them with a chime and a live finish time.
Is Fabulous free?
There is a trial and some free use, but the coaching content moves behind a subscription fairly quickly. Morning Vibe has a free plan with no card, and you can run any library routine in the browser without an account at all.
Which is better for getting out of the house on time?
Morning Vibe, because the timing is the product. Fabulous does not aim to keep a packed morning on schedule, so if your problem is leaving late rather than not starting, the countdown per step is what you want.
Which is better if I have no routine at all?
Fabulous. Being told what to add, in what order, one thing at a time, is genuinely useful when you are starting from nothing, and the writing and audio are well made.
Can I use both?
Plenty of people do, and it is a sensible combination. Let Fabulous decide what belongs in your morning over the next few weeks, then run that morning as timed blocks so it fits into the time you actually have.
